*LIFTED* Wye Mountain area under precautionary boil water notice

Announcements

THIS BOIL WATER NOTICE WAS LIFTED ON MONDAY, MAY 5.

LITTLE ROCK/WYE MOUNTAIN, AR – Central Arkansas Water (CAW) has issued a Precautionary Boil Water Notice for approximately 191 customers in the area of Highway 10 between Ferndale Cutoff and 15917 Highway 113. The notice is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

This action follows a spontaneous break and resulting loss of pressure on a 12-inch water valve located at 24001 Highway 10. The break occurred around 3:00 p.m. today, and CAW crews isolated the affected section of the system by approximately 4:30 p.m. All repairs have been completed, and water pressure has been restored.

While this precautionary notice is in effect, affected customers are advised to:

  • Bring water to a brisk boil for at least one (1) minute before using it for drinking, preparing beverages, cooking, or dishwashing.

  • Discard any ice made during the advisory period from automatic ice makers.

Impacted Area:
The boil water notice applies to 191 customers along Highway 10 west of Ferndale Cutoff to 15917 Highway 113, including all side streets off Highway 10 and Highway 113 within the affected area.

CAW is actively notifying customers by placing large signs at entrances to the affected area and posting updates through local media outlets and social media channels.

In accordance with Arkansas Department of Health regulations, a Boil Water Notice is required when there is a loss of system pressure due to a main break. This notice is strictly precautionary and intended to safeguard public health while bacteriological testing is conducted.

Water quality samples will be collected and tested now that repairs are complete and pressure has been restored. CAW anticipates receiving test results and expects to lift the notice by Sunday, May 4, 2025, provided the water is confirmed safe for consumption.
