Education
From Forest to Faucet
At Central Arkansas Water (CAW), we are proud to be the metropolitan water service provider for the greater Little Rock-North Little Rock area. We are also proud to offer unique educational opportunities to our customers and the community.
CAW offers numerous programs throughout the year for all ages to promote water education. Three of our largest programs include:
This program invites members of our community to spend the day "immersed" in water. Participants spend the day touring our water sources, watershed, treatment and distribution departments. One-of-a-kind tours of CAW activities allow participants access to parts of CAW not normally seen by the public. Citizens' Water Academy is normally held twice a year, in the Spring and Fall, and is open to everyone.
Power of Water Professional Development
This program brings school teachers from around the state together to spend a week of intensive professional development training with CAW staff and other community leaders. This program, which is in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, provides teachers with knowledge and tools to take back to their classrooms and share with their students. It also provides PD hours for teachers that participate.
Forest to Faucet Festival
CAW brings the fun and learning to schools across the region through our Forest to Faucet Festivals. This programs brings learning opportunities directly to schools by partnering with other organizations for a half-day outdoor event. Organizations like the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, Little Rock Zoo, Arkansas Forestry Commission, and others have participated in previous events, bringing exhibits, hands-on learning experiences and awesome games directly to the kids.
